Senior Chloe Cloud will be recognized  for her exceptional achievements and development in the arts next month.

Cloud will receive the Youth Recognition Award which is given to one middle or high school student annually.

The Art Council of Wichita is holding their 45th Annual Art Awards at the Drury Plaza on Oct. 30. The event recognizes businesses and individuals who have made artistic achievements or contribution to the growth of arts in Wichita. There will be 12 awards given to professionals and businesses, with Cloud being the only student.

“It’s basically an award to give you kudos for winning awards,” Cloud said.

Cloud has been involved in the arts for as long as she can remember and continuously has taken art classes at Maize.

Specializing in graphic design and drawing, Cloud has won several awards for her work, including her three first place ribbons at the Kansas State Fair this year. Her sculpture is made out of computer parts and wires and displays two people. Her two drawings are of a dog and a griffin.
