No one thinks a squirrel or a raccoon could potentially harm someone, but the police of New York did. They feared the squirrel and raccoon carried rabies and could be dangerous, so the police raided Mark Longo's home and took the animals. Their names were Peanut and Fred. Mark and his wife came to learn that the animals had been euthanized, and then after they had been euthanized they tested negative for rabies.

Making decisions about your future as a senior in high school can be difficult and stressful. High school students reported negative feelings about school 60% of the time, with some of this percentage stress about higher education. Support from peers and adults around students can help lower the amount of negative emotions they feel.

With inflation increasing product prices and the quality and quantity of them lowering to shrinkflation, many Americans are struggling to make ends meet. The prices for necessities like food, homes, and healthcare have risen by 2.4%. Prices for homes and necessities are leading more people to go into poverty and homelessness. Shrinkflation is the shrinking of the quality, amount, or size of a product you get for the same price it used to be before. Inflation and shrinkflation are causing people to either pay more or get less and even sometimes both for a product and it needs to get under control.

Early in this year when they announced several AI programs that can generate artwork and animation like a human got them in serious hot water with animators. The animation community hates the idea of companies wanting to use AI to replace their work because it is faster even though they lack the soul, creative spirit and looks that human art can give. In 2023 when Artificial Intelligence was introduced, the early promise of its technology was overshadowed by the wide range of problems that came from using copyright images and articles to create new images and text from programs like Chatgpt and many more.

During the winter months of December, January, and February there are over 24% weather-related crashes reported on icy roads and over 15% is reported to happen during snowfall or sleet. Wind can cause blowing snow and can cause low visibility with traffic moving slower which can increase the possibility of accidents to happen. More than 116,800 adolescents and adults combined are reported to be killed in crashes on snowy or icy roads. In 2019, where light snow killed two and caused a 50-car pileup is an example of how dangerous icy roads can be. During winter months it is a good idea to drive safely and slowly while staying cautious. Make sure your gas tank is full, and all lights work on your car when you’re driving in the winter. During the winter you should keep supplies in your car during the winter months like first aid kit, batteries, radio, flashlights, blankets, jumper cables, and emergency flares.

Screens have become the subject of entertainment and escape for people in today’s world. Hours and hours of time have become devoted to a handheld electronic device instead of time spent with family. On average, forty-one percent of teens in America spend more than eights hours a day goggling at a screen. In addition, adults spend around six hours a day in front of a screen. In conclusion, you are left with a society consumed by technology that neglects deeping the relationships that only exist within family.

Despite all the good uses AI could be put to, it can cause harm for artists who have their work stolen and copied by others. Many people will also claim that they are professional artists even though they do not actually use their own skills to create an artwork, instead having an algorithm do the work for them.

Stuck in the Past
According to the Pew Research Center (https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/01/30/house-gets-younger-senate-gets-older-a-look-at-the-age-and-generation-of-lawmakers-in-the-118th-congress/), the average age of a Senate member is 65 years old. New generations come, but the previous ones remain in charge. The government is getting too old, unable to grasp anything in the Digital Age, yet still dictating it. While the world moves on, the leaders of it remain stuck in the past.

Undermining Women’s Rights
The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which stripped women of the right to have an abortion, leaving states to decide if they wanted to make abortions illegal. Currently, Ohio is voting on whether to ban abortions. This election creates new vocal points for candidates to focus on in the 2024 presidential election. The overturn exhibits how little the US values women's rights, causing women to fight back again for a fundamental right.

Playing With Fire Will Burn You Too
Greenhouse Gas emissions are the highest they have ever been. The Global temperature has risen 2 degrees Fahrenheit since the 1880s. The US contributes to around 14% of carbon emissions , which is an increasing amount each year. The Earth is heating up and we are on the road to a mass extinction event. Meanwhile, carbon emissions are worse than ever because of consumerism and greed.
