The USD 266 middle school robotics teams have been working to improve their coding and building skills in preparation for their end-of-year robotics tournament.
The competition, led by middle school teachers Jessica Buchanan and Ivy Daugherty, will pit student-built robots against one another, giving participants a glimpse into the competitiveness they can expect in high school robotics programs.
While high school students often have greater access to robotics resources, middle schools typically face more limited funding. That can mean fewer opportunities for students to explore their interests in STEM during critical developmental years.
Despite these challenges, the teams remains committed. With the guidance of a dedicated teacher and a shared passion for robotics, the students are gaining valuable experience. Their determination and perseverance are qualities that will serve them well as they move on to high school programs.
