Former Maize graduate runs under Nigerian flag in the 2016 Olympics

2010 Maize graduate, Miles Ukaoma, is running for Nigeria in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Ukaoma ran Track and Field his senior year while attending Maize under the coaching of Jerrod Handy.

Once graduated from Maize, Ukaoma went to Nebraska on scholarship and was an Four-Time-All-American during his college career.

“He was a stud. He was a good leader and pretty vocal,” Handy said. “Not over the top and he was very coach able.” 

Handy said he could always see potential in Ukaoma.

I didn’t know he was going to make it to the Olympics, but I knew he was gonna be really good,” Handy said. 

Ukaoma will race the Men’s 400m hurdles Aug 15.
