Sophomore Brennen Sanders practices his ground strokes in a drill during tennis practice. Varsity coach John Anderson runs the drill by tossing tennis balls at the players for them to retrieve.

The varsity boys tennis team attended the Derby Invitational tournament yesterday and placed first as a team. Sophomore Brennen Sanders was one of two singles players who represented Maize in the tournament.

“I went 3-1 [in the tournament], placing third,” Sanders said.
