Students were surprised with a lock down drill this morning during first block. The drill lasted for approximately 3 minutes.

According to super superintendent Chad Higgins the lock down was a precautionary measure.

“Shortly before 9 a.m. today, we at Maize USD 266 were notified by the City of Maize Police Department of a threat in a nearby neighborhood.  At the request of the police and in a precautionary measure, we placed Maize High School on a modified lockdown. A few minutes later, police were able to control the situation and gave us the all-clear,” Higgins said in a email to parents and teachers.
