POWERBALL

Now that the Powerball has reached $1.5 billion, more people 18 and older are racing to get tickets with hopes of claiming the prize. Even though there is a 1 in 175 million chance of winning, seniors Alex West and Ashley Gonzales have similar views on the lottery.

“I just don’t want to waste my money on it,” West said. “I would have to be influenced by friends or family to buy one.”

Gonzales also said she thinks it is a waste of money to buy a ticket with such bad chances.

College is a very expensive aspect in education and a lot of seniors worry about going into debt.

“I would pay off college,” West said.“I would not just quit my job. I would invest it.”

The most recent Powerball numbers were drawn on Jan. 9. The winning numbers are 16-19-32-34-57 and 13 as the Powerball number. The next drawing is Wednesday.
