Marching band and color guard traveled to the Kansas State Fair to showcase their performance on Sept. 9.
“For our first competition this year it was pretty good, it was a different setup than we usually do so it was kind of difficult to be ready for it, but it was really fun,” senior Allison Freese said.
All performances receive three scores, all out of 100 points. Maize received an 88, 90 and 91.
“We did a lot better this year than last year,” Freese said. “There is a completely different group so it’s a different mindset.”
Even though the performance received high scores, members feel like they could still do better.
“I feel like there’
s always room for improvement,” senior Shelby Goss said. “For how prepared we are this early in the season, we did really well.”
