Senior Daley Handy hands off the baton to senior Kelsey Graber during an event at the Maize Invitational April 10.

The girls and boys track and field team both won the Maize Invitational April 10 with girls ending with 226 points and boys ending with 208.5 points. Gold medalists include seniors Kate Utech, Max Berg, Kassidy Watkins, Kendall Stewart, and Cole Bosley, juniors Kameron Swenson and Jason Hanna, sophomores Mia Magby, Konnor Swenson, and Taylor Holmes and freshman Zailey Chaffin.

“This meet went well because I got first place,” said senior Kassidy Watkins. “There wasn’t as much competition because the more competitive runners went to Shocker Pre-State, so I didn’t have the best time but I got first place. I definitely want to continue to get my time faster so that I can qualify for all my events at regionals and hopefully place at state.”

The track team is in action again this April 16 at Wichita Heights.
