Counselor and Peer Helper sponsor Ron Buhrman won’t be coming back for the 2015-2016 school year due to budget cuts.
Buhrman was the most recently hired counselor, therefore he had to be the one the school decided to let go.
With Buhrman leaving, the other three counselors are left to handle the 400 students he originally took care of.
“I’m really going to miss everyone here,” Buhrman said. “I know with all the wonderful members we have, Peer Helpers will be left in great hands.”
Peer Helper Co-sponsor, Geri Hickerson, won’t be returning to the group next year either due to how tied up she’ll be with all the new students she’ll have to take over.
Peer Helpers will most likely have to be student-led next year unless a teacher steps up for the position as sponsor.
