Junior Brett Moon’s success in wrestling has brought the Maize wrestling team to the top. He has wrestled since he was three with his friend, junior Cole Moses.

“I’ve wrestled with him since I can remember,” Moon said. He started wrestling for Maize in high school.

“I actually didn’t wrestle for the Maize team in middle school, but I did wrestle for the Maize wrestling club,” Moon said.

When he got into high school, he wrestled for the team and has had top five finishes at state since his freshman year.

“I’ve won 28 matches this year,” Moon said.

Moon also beat the state champion Jan. 17.

“Brett basically finds a way to win,” coach Mike Schauer says.

When he wrestles he rarely lets the opponent gain any points.

“Brett has only given up six points the entire season,” Schauer said.

This is a huge reason why he is undefeated.

Due to Moon’s hard work and dedication to the wrestling team, he has not only become a top wrestler in the state, but has become Maize’s athlete of the week.
