Students can help raise money for the American Heart Association by purchasing a limited edition T-shirt for $10.
“The American Heart Association contacted me about this fundraiser,” physical education teacher Casey Tarrant said. “I previously worked with Wichita schools, and decided to transition this over to Maize.”
The American Heart Association is a non-profit organization that promotes appropriate cardiac care. The overall goal of the Association is to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Students are encouraged to wear these shirts at the “red out” for the first home basketball game on Dec. 5.
“Students can buy a shirt from me, or they can use the QR code on the back of the order forms that were sent out to all of the Encor teacher that they can scan. Once they scan it students can chose to donate online,” Tarrant said.
The schoolwide goal is to raise $1,500. If that goal is met before Dec. 5, principal Craig Broadbent and coach Gary Guzman will wear dresses to school that day.
There will also be a hat day on Dec. 3. The $1 donation will go to the American Heart Association.
