Boys soccer loses second game in tournament

Maize boys soccer will play their final tournament game at Wichita South High.
Boys soccer will play their final tournament game at Wichita South High Sept. 6.

Boys soccer lost 2-1 against Liberal Sept. 3 at the Titan Classic at Wichita South High.

“We got scored on within the first four minutes of the game. We just hung in there for the rest of the game. With 20 minutes left, we got the game-tying goal. But we got scored on in the last two minutes of the game,” Junior Alec Lakin said.

Senior Jose Diaz, varsity captain, knew Liberal would be a challenge.

“I was expecting Liberal to be good since they’re ranked second. But more importantly, I was expecting to win,” Diaz said.

Boys soccer will go against Salina-Central Sept.6 for third place at the Titan Classic.
