Powers could be leaving for Arkansas

Superintendent Doug Powers is being considered for a job as superintendent of Fayetteville Public Schools in Arkansas.

KFSM, a CBS affiliate in Arkansas, is reporting that Powers is one of two finalists left for the position.doug

Powers began at Maize in 2009 after serving as superintendent of USD 364 in Marysville, Kansas, for five years.

Fayetteville Public Schools is slightly larger than Maize, serving around 9,400 students in 15 buildings. Fayetteville is home to the University of Arkansas.

Powers was unavailable for comment. Maize communications director Lori Buselt said she could not comment at this time.
