Girls basketball win big in first sub-state game

The girls basketball team won their first sub-state game Wednesday defeating Campus 56-25. The team built up a big enough lead that they ran the clock in the fourth quarter, meaning they only stopped for timeouts, injuries, and technical fouls. Junior Saige Baalman led the team in scoring with 11 points.

“I thought we played really well,” head coach Jerrod Handy said. “We passed the ball really well.”

With the big win, the team advances to the sub-state finals for a spot in the state tournament.

“We just want to make sure that we’re all playing well at the right time,” Handy said.

The team’s next game will be at 7 p.m. Friday at home against Garden City.
