Senior Whitney Lucas, plays forward for girls soccer, tore her ACL just before the spring soccer season.
Although the team lost one of their key players, sophomore Katie McClure believes that the team will step up their game to fill the void.
“I think other players will step up and get an opportunity to show their true colors on the field,” McClure said.
Sophomore Cassidy Darrah agrees, “I think it will affect the team in a major way, but we could attempt to fill for her.”
Lucas will be out the entire season, as she has surgery planned for March 10.
“Tearing your ACL is pretty bad because it puts you out for so much of the season,” Darrah said.
Lucas did not express concern for the team, despite the changes that will be made to the offense this season.
“We have a lot of talent already, so I’m not too worried about them,” Lucas said.
Although unsure of the future for her soccer career, Lucas still plans to play soccer in the fall for college if she is recovered. The recovery for her ACL tear could be anywhere between six weeks and six months.
