Halfway through the fall season, Maize High boys soccer has doubled their win total from the previous year.

Their record halfway into this season is 10-3 through thirteen games. In the thirteen games, they have averaged over four goals per game and have netted 53 total goals.

Midfielder Topher Cannizzo has scored three goals and has had four assists this season. Cannizzo believes that the mindset has changed which has caused the team to win more games overall.

“Not much has changed other than the players’ mindsets. People want to win more than we did last year, we are more competitive and are enjoying the season this year,” said Cannizzo.

Striker Carter Bradshaw has scored 15 goals and 7 assists on the season and thinks that they have all grown and been putting in the work this season at practice, causing the offense to score more goals and improve from last year. He is happy with the coaching staff and impressed with their coaching strategy.

“Our offense has improved drastically just cause we have each individually grown so much and I think great [our] coaching staff has really done that to us and great plays during practice. [We have been] just really putting in the work and it shows,” said Bradshaw.
