Junior Kara Kolar won the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award after being nominated by a friend at her church who is a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution group.
“They were looking for someone to receive the award,” Kolar said, “and she nominated me.”
Kolar received the award at an award ceremony at her church. Her friend who nominated her wrote a speech and presented her with the award. There were five qualifications to receive the award, honor, service, leadership, patriotism and courage.
“I was the only person to win the Citizenship award,” Kolar said, “they had different awards given out [similar to the] Citizen award given to seniors, there were four given out of those.”
