Maize South continues to hold an undefeated record after defeating Campus 49-34 Friday.

“Being a team without any losses kind of puts a target on our backs,” senior linebacker Tait Luce said. “We still have a lot to prove.”

Luce had eight tackles and four assists.

Maize South had a 28-19 lead at the end of the first half. The Mavericks hadn’t allowed more than 14 points in a game previously.

“I think this game was a big humbling point for our defense but a good confidence booster for our offense.” said senior defensive end Josh Coleman.

Senior Evan Cantu had five rushing touchdowns to lead the Mavericks.

Maize South plays their homecoming game Friday against the 0-4 Newton Railers.

“I believe wholeheartedly that this year’s team will be one of the all-time great Maize South teams,”  Luce said.
