Maize finished the first game of the 2021 season with a 17-14 victory against Andover.

“It was a good game to see where our strengths and our weaknesses are,” junior Caden Miranda said.

The team is focusing on gearing up for the next game on Friday against Campus.

“We are preparing for Campus this week by working both offensively and defensively on trying to run Campus’s formation,” Miranda said.

Senior Landon Helm said the thing the team is best at this year is the amount of good communication they have, on and off the field. He said the key is “trusting each other and knowing the other guys will get their part done.”

This is Helms’s last high school football season, he has high hopes for the season. He thinks the team looks good and will do well this season.  Helm finished the first game of the season with two receiving receptions.

“I am most excited to see how far we can run this year,” Helm said. “I think we have a good team and we can go far this year.”
