On August 20th, Sony made a tweet announcing that they would be continuing the series without the help of Marvel. Several Maize South students have mixed feelings about Spider-Man being switched to a new company.

“I feel very sad that Spider-man is no longer in marvel, I feel like the series would feel empty without Spider-Man cause he was my favorite,” Momay Sonsena, 11, said. “If they worked this out this can be the best series for the character to ever come out.”

Even though some people have mixed feelings about the whole situation, Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in the most recent renditions, reassures all movie fans that everything will be okay and they will continue to work hard to make the character the best it’s ever been.

“Basically, we’ve made five great movies. It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life,” Tom Holland said. “It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

Sophomore Gene Melton feels as if Sony couldn’t make it without Marvel’s assist and offer to help them in making future Spider-Man movies on their own, especially due to the financial side of creating the cinematic piece.

“Marvel had a lot of money coming from Avengers Endgame, so they had a lot of money for their budget to spend on Spider-man, so I don’t think that Sony could really compare to Marvel,” Melton said.
