Despite all the good uses AI could be put to, it can cause harm for artists who have their work stolen and copied by others. Many people will also claim that they are professional artists even though they do not actually use their own skills to create an artwork, instead having an algorithm do the work for them.

On April 30, boys JV and Varsity Tennis went to League in Valley Center. With all the scores tallied up, South placed first in JV and second in Varsity. Varsity was only four points behind the winner. South brought 14 students to League in each field, JV and Varsity.

“There was really good competition there but frankly I kind of slacked off this season so I ended up placing seventh in singles,” Joseph French, 10, said.

South had many students place in this very competitive event. This year South also placed first at regionals, which is the first time that has ever happened to South.

“In JV, Landon Eskridge and Brayden Zamzow were the champions of JV Doubles,” Mike Domnick, coach, said. “Braden Pfeifer and Blake Manahan were the runner ups for JV Doubles. For Singles, Alex Padron took third and French took seventh. In Varsity, Jack Jewett and Noah Spurgeon finished fourth in doubles team and Braden Reichenberger and Clay Hardin finished seventh also in doubles team. Lastly, Jaden Tredway finished fifth and Garrison Wright finished seventh in singles players.”

Students have to practice a lot before they are completely ready for League because the event usually lasts between 8-10 hours. The people who chose to do tennis over other athletics knew how they would prepare for this.

“League was actually not that good, but regionals was good because we upsetted the number one seed,” Jack Jewett, 11, said.

A tennis meet will usually last 3-5 hours, so League can seem extremely long after normally just going to meets and players are not always playing a match.

“I think there were at least seven teams at league that we competed against and there is usually about a one hour wait between each match,” Jaden Tredway, 9, said.

Both JV and Varsity teams have been practicing for this since the beginning of the season. All their hard work has paid off and they made history for the 2018 boys tennis season.
