Students predict Super Bowl 52

Super Bowl 52 saw the Philadelphia Eagles versus the New England Patriots. The Bullseye surveyed 142 people, and 72 people predicted the Eagles would win, while 68 people predicted the Patriots would win. The Eagles were the underdogs right away, even with their better record, they lost their starting quarterback before the playoffs started, which made it harder for them to get to the Super Bowl.

Hayden Bontreger, 11, said “Carson Wentz played his heart out the whole season, and finally got his first super bowl ring. He deserved it.”

The Eagles ended up surprising the world and beat the high powered Patriots, winning 41-33.With this being one of the most surprising Super Bowls for many people who were patriots fans, both teams and fans can both say they enjoyed the halftime show led by Justin Timberlake the same. He sang numerous amount of his old hits and included some of his new, wowing the crowd with the final song, “Can’t Stop the Feeling” which got the whole stadium involved.

Many of the South students participated in bets and Super Bowl parties and have a variety of opinions of how this game went.

Ethan Hartig, 11, said “I think it’s impressive how a backup QuarterBack came in and beat the greatest nfl player of all time.”

Many students were surprised that the Patriots took a loss in this game, and others were very pleased with the outcome. Trey Reid, 10, said his favorite part of the game was seeing Tom Brady lose, considering Brady’s team has had high expectations of winning this Super Bowl in addition to last years.
