South won regionals against Wellington, then lost sectionals on Nov. 10 to McPherson with a score of 7-28.
“I think we could have won if we limited the turnovers,” Jack Wagner, 12, linebacker, said. “We could have been more prepared to play.”
There were five turnovers on South that influenced the game to go to McPherson’s advantage, which lead to the loss for South.
“Looking back you can always think you could have done better, “ Ryan Grabman, 12, quarterback, said. “But we had a good year.”
Both teams started the game with a 9-1 record.
“I feel like we were fairly well matched matched,” Grabman said. “It was one of those games that could have went either way.”
South’s season ended with a record of 9-2, and McPherson advanced to sub-state with a record 10-1.
