Maize defeats district rival Maize South for the second time this season, 57-27. This is the second game in the playoffs and the Eagles will now advance to play Bishop Carroll this week. Due to a close game last time the teams faced off, tensions were high going into this playoff game.

“We definitely expected a battle,” Senior wide receiver Jacob Hanna said. “Our defense really did a great job of bottling them up.”

Hanna said it was a great feeling defeating Maize South but the team needs to focus back up and get ready to face Bishop Carroll for the third playoff game.

“They’re [Bishop Carroll] definitely a good, battle-tested team,” Hanna said “We’re not overlooking them and preparing for the game as such.”

Senior running back Josh Sanders said that practices are longer now that the team is getting deeper into the playoffs. He also said he looks forward to this week’s game against Bishop Carroll.

“I have watched films and they have some easy things to exploit,” Sanders said.
