Art club to take field trip to Crystal Bridges museum

Art Club students will be going to Crystal Bridges in Bentonville, Arkansas via a charter bus on Saturday, March 7. Crystal Bridges will be paying for the charter bus, which would normally be $2,000. Entry to the museum is free. The bus will depart at 6:30 for the drive, roughly four hours, and return that evening.

Beth Janssen, Art Club sponsor, said Crystal Bridges is a great way to get out of town and is overall a great opportunity for students.

“They have all American art ranging from pre-colonial, I think, to current day artists,” Janssen said.

Crystal Bridges is located in a remote patch of forest in Northwest Arkansas. Janssen said spring is the perfect time to look at the museum’s outdoor exhibits. The property also features a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, an architect famous for his simplistic designs.

“It’s a beautiful museum,” Janssen said. “It’s [in] a really beautiful… and really wooded area. A creek runs through it and the architecture is phenomenal.”

Freshman Jade Pharis has never been to Arkansas before and is excited for the journey. She’s been a member of art club since the beginning of this school year but has considered art a hobby or career choice since middle school.

“I hadn’t heard of [Crystal Bridges] before the trip but if we’re going to cross another state to get there, it must be pretty good, right?” Pharis said.
