Maize choir’s annual Christmas concert is here once again. On Dec. 6 and 7, the choir will be performing their concert “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year” in the Maize auditorium at 7:30 p.m. There is no charge for the show, but they are collecting food and monetary donations for the Kansas Food Bank.

Junior Tate Johnson, a member of the madrigal choir, said they have worked very hard on their mix of joyful and touching music.

“I get really excited about the really difficult songs that we sing because when they are done right, they sound absolutely incredible,” Johnson said. “There’s nothing I love more about choir than singing those songs with my friends.”

Johnson said choir director Doris Prater has been an inspiration to himself and his classmates.

“Mrs. Prater always does an amazing job at crafting our shows to capture audiences heart,” he said. “Mrs. Prater has done an incredible job in planning our show from start to finish, and she is continually inspiring all of her students to help make that happen themselves as well.”

Senior Bailey Pendergrass said she is also excited to share the beautiful songs as a gift to the audience.

“It’s especially special for me because I’m a senior,” she said. “This is my last time on the stage for a Maize High Christmas show.”

Pendergrass said she is grateful for Prater’s help in making her final holiday concert a good one.

“Mrs. Prater has given a big variety of songs for us to sing,” Pendergrass said. “She somehow always makes them work together to form a smooth show.”
