Eagles beat Salina South and remain undefeated

Last night Maize defeated Salina Central 48-26 and remain undefeated. The Eagles are now 7-0.

Senior Caleb Grill thought the game went well, especially on the offensive side.

“It went good,” Grill said. “We were clicking offensively and it was a fun game.”

Although Maize won the game, they were scored on defensively for the first time all season. Grill thinks Salina Central played as expected and Maize was ready for it.

“It was expected, our offense is so powerful,” Grill said. “That is how it should be every game.”

Preven Christon thinks the game was difficult but that the team played well and they were prepared.

“I think this game was one of our more difficult than our other ones for sure,” Christon said. “They really didn’t show us any different tactics, they used the same stuff we were expecting them to do.”

The Eagles had some improvements since last season and Grill knows that these changes have kept Maize undefeated all season.

“I believe we have so many weapons offensively that it’s hard to stop us.” Grill said. “On defense we don’t have the biggest kids, but they all play as one unit and that’s what makes a defense great.”
