2018 Scholastic Art Awards results

Junior Krista Phillips Received honorable mention on her ceramics entry. The piece is titled “Bloom.”

Every year, students who have an interest in art are invited to submit their work to the Eastern Kansas Scholastic Art Awards. Each student is allowed to submit as many pieces as they wish, with the school paying for their first two submissions.

The scoring system ranks winning pieces as Honorable Mention, Silver Key or Gold Key, respectively.

Out of the many submissions from Maize students, 17 submissions received an Honorable Mention, 17 submissions received a Silver Key and 1 submission received a Gold Key. 

The Maize students who received an Honorable Mention for their pieces are Mason Cloud, Evelyn Farrell, Sandra Garcia, Tamara Lopez, Bailey Mcdonald, Madison Mullen, Maddie Neigenfind, Victoria Peterson, Krista Phillips, Elysia Stafford and Crosby Woods. These students will have their pieces displayed in the library.

The students who received a Silver Key get their work displayed at Mark Arts from Feb. 2 to March 11. From Maize Natallie Choyce, Willow Eaton, Isabel Hadley, Brooklyn Harrison, Kaia James, Ashlyn Lakin, Tamara Lopez, Alicia Massie, Calissa McCarty, Madison Mullen, Megan Paul, Victoria Peterson and Gavin White received a Silver Key award.

The Gold Key award was earned by Senior Madison Mullen on her sculpture titled “Testing.”  This piece will also be displayed at Mark Arts.
