Grant Bugbee goes up for a shot in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s sub-state championship game at Eisenhower. The Eagles lost 52-44. Bugbee scored nine points.

Boys basketball lost to Eisenhower 52-44 in the sub-state finals end their season short of state.

In the first quarter, Maize hit hard with a 13-7 lead, but lost the momentum at the half with Eisenhower in the lead 22-15.

In the third quarter, the Eagles were behind 37-28.

Junior Jalen Johnson scored 8 points for the Eagles, sophomore Caleb Grill scored 12, sophomore Devon Koehn scored 10, senior Grant Bugbee scored 9 and sophomore Brandle Studevan Jr. scored 5.

This was the final game of the season for the Eagles. Overall the boys were 13-9 this season.
