The Eagles defeated Salina Central 42-28 last Friday as the season is coming to a close with only one game left.

In the first quarter of the game, Eagles kicked off to Salina then got the ball back from a fumble. Junior Dalyn Johnson scored the first and second touchdowns of the game to give the Eagles a lead of 13-0.

In the second quarter, Eagles scored another touchdown and attempted a two point conversion to give the Eagles a lead of 21-0. Salina scored two touchdowns to make the score 21-13.

In the third quarter, junior quarterback Braydon Payne had a 23-yard run to make the score 28-21 going into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Salina scored the first touchdown to tie the game 28-28. With four minutes left in the game Johnson scored a touchdown to lead Salina 34-28. Then Maize scored another touchdown with 20 seconds left to end the game 42-28.

Eagles have a hand in winning league and hosting the playoffs on Oct. 28 for the first time since 2013. This will be confirmed after they play their last game.

Eagles play Hutchinson this Friday at Hutchinson.
