Three sport teams were in action Thursday night. The girls and boys basketball teams took on Valley Center and the wrestling team traveled to Dodge City for a duel.

The girls basketball team won their game 46-30. Senior HaLee Roland led the team with 18 points and junior Brecken Roe also made it into double digits with 10 points.

“I thought we did pretty good,” sophomore Bailey Stedman said. “We do this trap or pressed and it’s called monster and we didn’t do that very well, but I think once we get it down it’ll be good.”

According to KBCA rankings, the girls team is the second best team in 5A.

The boys team also defeated Valley Center in a high scoring game, 85-64. Junior Grant Bugbee led the team with 19 points while sophomore Dalyn Johnson was right behind with 16 points.

“I think we played well offensively,” senior Connor Holmes said. “We need to take care of the bottle a little bit more, though.”

KBCA rankings have the boys team ranked fourth in 5A.

Both basketball teams will play Tuesday night at home against Arkansas City.

The wrestling team lost their first duel of the season to Dodge City 48-27.

Seniors Brett Moon and Alex Hydock won their matches as well as sophomores Talon Fitzmier, Caleb Wunsch and Cameron Hughbanks.

“We have a lot of new wrestlers this year,” Hydock said. “Our underclassmen wrestlers still wrestled well, though.”

The team will be at a tournament tomorrow at Arkansas City.
