“We want to know who can make the best homemade salsa in Maize, America,” Spanish Club sponsor Sherry Elder said.
That’s why the Spanish club will host a salsa making contest at 6:30 p.m on Sept. 16 in room G6. The contest will be open to the public.
Participants are allowed to make their salsa at home and bring it to the contest as long as they have the recipe so the judges know exactly how it was made. Participants will need to bring chips in order for the judges to try their salsa.
Judges will be given tickets and asked to place their ticket in the bucket of the salsa that they think is best.
“Hopefully we will have a lot of people come to either make or to judge the contest,” Elder said.
There will be a movie shown in Spanish after the contest around 7 p.m. Students who are not participating in the contest but are there to judge are asked to bring some sort of food to share with others.
