Higgins named Maize superintendent
May 5, 2015
The school board announced today that Chad Higgins will replace Doug Powers as the Maize superintendent.
There were four candidates running for the superintendent job who went through many meetings with central office, administration and the board of directors. They also got to tour some of the buildings.
“He must have been the one that everybody liked,” principal Chris Botts said.
The new superintendent used to be the principal of Douglas High until he left to become the superintendent for Moundridge High where he has been since coming to Maize.
“I think anytime you have a new leader they will come in with their own ideas, their own vision of what they think a good school district will look like,” Botts said. “From what I could tell about Mr. Higgins is that he is a genuine person, maybe an authentic leader. Someone who I think will be very visible and present in all of the schools.”
