Culinary essentials teacher Cara Poole has been nominated for both the Maize Excellence in Education award and the Kansas Teacher of the Year award.
Poole says she found out that she was nominated through e-mail.
She was nominated for the Maize Excellence in Education award because teachers in the school voted for her. The nominees then go up to the district level and the choices are narrowed down from there.
