Junior Tori Lemon is raising money for her sister Kaylee Mae Lemon and her MDA team, Butterfly Kisses. MDA is the Muscular Dystrophy Association that researches and tries to find a cure for muscular dystrophy.
When Kaylee was born she was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Myopathy, a disease that affects her in many ways and could eventually shorten her life.
Every year they get a team together to raise money to send kids like Kaylee to a summer camp. This camp allows them to horseback ride, swim and participate in activities they don’t usually get the opportunity to do because of their disease.
“Every year it’s a whole lot of fun and we make t-shirts for the team. Anyone can participate in this walk, and last year we had around 60 people on our team and we are hoping for more,” Lemon said.
This week Lemon will be going around to classrooms collecting money for this cause.
She also is selling $5 cards to Sonic for discounts on meals.
The walk will be 10:00 a.m. April 18 at Cessna Stadium.
