The girls bowling team took third place out of 11 schools with a score of 2,309 in the 6A regional competition. Junior Jaden Light took ninth place with an individual score of 586, and senior Cheyenne Esser took 10th with a final score of 572.
“I’d like to win state, but I’m trying to be realistic,” Light said.
On the other hand, the boys bowling team took everyone by surprise by receiving 2nd place out of ten schools with an overall score of 2,556. Senior Brenton Mauldin took fifth place for his score of 664.
“No one really saw our boys actually taking second. We were all thinking maybe third place, if they were lucky,” Light said. “So, we’re all pretty proud of our boys.”
All qualifiers will be back in action March 6 at the state competition at Northrock Lanes.
