On Feb. 5 the Eagles hosted a dual against AVCTL rival Derby and lost 43-26.
The Eagles started off strong with pins in the first two matches by freshman Justin Watkins and sophomore Zach Grantham.
“Derby is pretty good, so I guess we did alright,” undefeated and junior Brett Moon said. Moon won his match 14 to 1, and is ranked number one in 6A for his 170 weight class.
Junior Cole Moses and seniors Ashton Hanna and Chad Gloudeman also won for the Eagles.
“We are a great tournament team, we are not as experienced as a dual team where all of our guys meet all of another team’s guys,” coach Mike Schauer said.
The Eagles have directed their attention to the quickly upcoming regional and state competitions at the end of this month. The Eagles will compete at regionals on Feb. 21 and state on Feb. 27.
