The volleyball team received its first loss against Bishop Miege Sept. 20 at home. Derby, Hutchinson, Maize South, Newton, Garden City, Wichita-Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Wichita-North, Wichita-Northwest and Bishop Miege all attended the tournament.

“We did very, very well,” senior Maddy Orton said.

The Eagles played against defending state 4A champion Bishop Miege and ended up being runner-up for the Maize tournament.

“Even though we placed second at the tournament,” Orton said. “I feel like we did awesome and that if we had the chance to go against them again, we would do better.”

Their next game will be a triangular at 5 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Salina South.
