Don’t be afraid to be the only girl in a Woods class, don’t be afraid to sing your heart out in choir, don’t be afraid to take sewing if you’re a guy. Do what you want to do. Austin Binder Don’t miss out on extracurricular activities. Go to all games, dances, FCA events, and everything. Jonathan Bloodworth Go to sports events and take the ACT. Rachel Bosley Don’t be too anxious to be done. Enjoy your high school years and make the most of them! You won’t get those four years back after they’re gone. Some of my greatest memories and friendships have come from the teams I have been involved in. Jessica Curtiss Try new things, as many as you can. Don’t be afraid to travel outside of your social norm. I did and found the best friends I could ask for. Ashtyn Dalal Be involved in school activities and programs! Hadley Davis Attend as many sport/school events as you can. Lauren Debes Get involved in theatre. It gets you out of your shell and it has had the most profound impact on me. I might add that being involved in extracurricular activities such as Friendship Club, FFA, Science Olympiad and others are a great way to be involved in stuff outside the class room and also to have a good amount of fun with some great people. Join clubs and try out for things. It’s the most said line in the history of the world, but high school really can be the best four years of your life. Maize High is a great school with one of the best principals in the country. I promise that you will be right where I am before you know it, and you don’t want to regret missing out on anything. Lauren Dunbar Participating in school-wide activities can make high school more enjoyable, but you should also make more time for your friends and get to know everyone you go to school with. Craig Lehman Underclassmen shouldn’t miss out on the art classes that are offered, especially if you get Mrs. Jannsen for a teacher. Alexis Loudermilk One of the best experiences in high school is getting loud and cheering in the student section for our basketball teams. This year was especially exciting as our boys and girls went so far. I encourage all underclassmen to stay involved in clubs, organizations and extracurricular activities. Don’t just sit back and do nothing. Put yourself out there. By staying involved, I developed friendships, grew as a person, in leadership skills and enjoyed my high school years to the max. The spring break trip to France was the most incredible thing I have been a part of. I learned so much about myself and the other travelers. We all became so much more independent and culturally aware. Traveling was a real eye opener to all the possibilities I have in life. Kole McCorkendale Do what makes you the most happy. Mason McCreath Spending time with friends is the best thing in high school. Kara McDaniel They should not miss the experience of getting their diploma after at least twelve years of schooling. It can be daunting to put yourself out there, but I promise you won’t be disappointed by putting effort into making high school special. I joined some my sophomore year and made a lot of new friends. Haley Smith Take classes that make you happy and don’t make high school a drag. Don’t fill it with difficult classes, take at least one class a semester that you are looking forward to have during the day. Matthew Smith Make sure your yearbook photo is a good one because it will stick with you forever! Austin Snell Join choir! As an underclassman, I was incredibly shy and one of the most introverted people you would ever meet. I came to Maize High with few friends and low self-value and confidence. When I joined choir as a freshman, I was extremely nervous. I was a horrible dancer and definitely not the best singer. As my time in choir progressed, I gained so many friends! The upperclassmen were my biggest role models and I gained so much support from them. My love for music exploded. And best of all, I created memories that will be with me for the rest of my life with my choir family. Also, don’t stick to just one type of elective. My example is that I love choir deeply, but I stretched myself out to more opportunities and found that I also have a love for using computer programs to create project or design houses. Dalton Sorell Don’t miss Super’s classes. Lindsey Spencer Be in the student section! Alec Stephens Sports and other opportunities are great ways to get involved. Tyler Stratton Just everything in general! Attending prom, student activities, games, and just take all of it in. My high school year is almost over and I regret not supporting some of my best friends in the sports that play for the school. Blair Summers Underclassmen shouldn’t miss Friday night football games. Kris Super Clubs and activities should not be missed. Jennifer Terrell Sports games are so fun like Prom and friends. Don’t take full days senior year. Megan Theodore They can make new friends and have a good time at school and that it isn’t boring. Alex Tran The clubs. Join clubs makes friends and memories. Taylor Utter Find a club or activity that you enjoy. Lauren Villarreal Anything Mr. Super teaches. Even if it’s not on your career path, all of his classes are really interesting and he makes learning fun. Also try out Yearbook if you’re into writing or photography. It’s a great way to get to know everyone in the school and we also eat a ton of food, whether it’s for something to much on while working or for a party day after completing a deadline. Hannah Wagner Stand up for yourself, whether it’s a teacher, fellow classmate or coach. If someone makes you feel like anything less than awesome, talk to them. High school is so short in the grand scheme of things, but you’re supposed to be having fun! Do what makes you happy. Samantha Watson They should go to Homecoming and football games, dances, Prom and the pep assemblies. Emma Watt Participate in every school activity you can. It may seem like a waste of time at first, but trust me you will end up enjoying it. The most rewarding for me was joining the Big Brothers Big Sisters club which cooperates with Maize Central Elementary. The emotional reward you will receive from this club is priceless. Anna Weaver Spending Friday nights in the stands. It may seem overrated now, but those down-to-the-wire games and cheering alongside your friends will be the ones you remember. Freshman year counts. Take as many different classes that you can and find your niche. You might even end up finding your best friend in an art 1 class. Spencer Weaver Take college classes and earn college credit.
