After victories over Campus and Maize South, the Eagles continued their strong play by defeating the Hornets, 37-7, on Friday night.
The Eagles struck first, taking a 7-0 lead when junior Brayden Myovela connected with senior Bryson Hayes for a touchdown. Hayes added another score, extending the lead to 13-0 by the end of the first quarter.
Junior Hunter Jennings then intercepted a pass, setting up junior Shannon Jones for a touchdown run, making the score 27-0.
“We get a lot of momentum from defense to offense, and offense to defense,” said junior Scotty Hadley, who earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Hornets responded after halftime, getting on the board with a touchdown to narrow the gap to 27-7. However, senior Mason Teague added a field goal to further widen the lead. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles scored their final touchdown, securing the 37-7 win.
“We’ve got to keep winning, win October, and then worry about Week 9 later,” Hadley added.
