Maize will begin serving Pizza Hut for lunch every fifth Monday starting Sept. 9. Each slice of pizza is $1.75.
“I don’t know what kinds of pizza will be served yet,” kitchen manager Kim Stuckey said. “I’m assuming we’ll do what we used to, which is sausage, cheese and pepperoni.”
Previously Papa Johns was served to students during the 2011-12 school year. Pizza was served once a month until a new government school lunch plan went into effect. This plan regulates the amount of calories, sodium and grain consumed during school lunches.
Pizza Hut worked with Maize to get a calorie count to match the new guidelines for the 2013-14 school year.
“I’m really excited because I love Pizza Hut, plus a lot more people will eat it,” junior Alex Lee said.
