Review: “Spider-Man: No-Way Home” lives up to expectations
December 21, 2021
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” surpassed everything I had hoped and expected for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From the actors to the plot to the way it was filmed, Spider-Man hit every note and kept the audience on the edge of their seats the whole time.
As a longtime Marvel fan, the movie perfectly encapsulated everything the Spider-Man films have led up to. With fight scenes and exceptional acting from everyone in the film, it quickly rose to become one of my favorite Marvel movies.
The movie, released Friday, not only is an exciting potential ending to the Spider-Man trilogy but also beautifully completes loose ends from movies before. While still keeping the classic Peter Parker humor and feel o the movie, Marvel added characters and emotions that continue to show the depth of Parker’s character and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole.
Not only does the movie have everything one would expect from an amazing superhero movie, but it also combines heartbreaking scenes that send the audience on an emotional rollercoaster.
Going into the movie, it is expected the audience to have watched all Spider-Man movies and some other Marvel movies beforehand. Without the previous knowledge of the movies, a new Marvel fan would be lost and confused at times. With that being said, there are still light-hearted and funny moments that new and old Marvel fans can enjoy.
As someone who spent much time looking at theories before the movie began and formulating some of my own, the movie still managed to surprise me with elements and plot twists I would have never seen coming.
The atmosphere of being in a movie theater full of Marvel fans also added to the excitement and enjoyment of the movie. Everyone’s emotions seemed to be in sync with each other as we cheered, clapped, and, yes, shed a few tears together. There is no doubt that this movie was one of the highest-grossing movies to hit the box office since the pandemic, raking in $600.8 million globally in its first weekend.
The movie was expertly planned down to the very last detail that true Marvel fans picked up on right away. Although the movie ends on a beautiful tragic note, the post-scene credits leave much to the imagination for the future of Marvel.
