Maize South remained undefeated with a 28-14 victory over Hutchinson Friday. 

The Mavericks improved to 3-0.

“I was just ready to compete,” said senior defensive end Blake McCormick, who had 11 tackles and two assists. 

Hutchinson led 14-13 at halftime.

“After halftime, we came together as a team and I feel like once that happens we can’t be beat,” McCormick said. 

South scored 15 points in the fourth quarter.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game, so we made sure we stood together and supported each other,” senior Ladislao Jaimes said.

James said the fans helped them. 

“Our student section was going crazy,” Jaimes said. “It was great to feed off that kind of energy.” 

The Mavericks travel to Campus on Friday to take on the 0-3 Colts.

“This week we just need to work on staying patient and physical through the whole game,” Jaimes said.
