During the past few months, COVID-19 has taken over our planet and changed how we spend our 24 hours in a day.

Kansas has closed schools down for the remainder of the school year and converted to online classes. These classes only last for roughly forty minutes each, so what are we supposed to do during self-quarantine for the 12-15 hours each day?

I took it upon myself to binge watch multiple shows and movies on the popular streaming shows such as Hulu, Netflix, and Disney+. Hopefully this list of interesting, diverse watches may help your quarantine boredom.

Hulu options

Fixer Upper

The design and remodeling pros, Chip and Joanna Gaines, tackle remodeling houses to their customer’s liking. They have a new project every episode with its own unique style. The husband and wife also feature a bit of their personal life into the show, such as their kids, opinions, and more, to understand them as individuals a bit more. Chip’s Demo Day will make you laugh as he tries crazy things throughout the show and Joanna Gaines’ talent in decorating rooms may inspire you to do some of your own during this self isolation. If you’re going to be stuck in your room for weeks, you might as well be stuck in an awesomely designed room.

Bob’s Burgers

This TV-14 animated show is hilarious and guaranteed to make you laugh the entire quarantine. Between Jean’s musical jokes, Louise’s pranks, Tina’s awkwardness, and Bob and Linda Belcher’s adventures, the show is amazing for teenagers. Every episode, there is an interesting and creative plot. Bob’s carefully thought up “burger of the day” will bring you a smile as you watch the clock turn. There are holiday episodes in case you are missing Halloween or Christmas, and there are summer episodes for when you’re longing for the warmer days. There are even rivalries between restaurants, a struggle to pay bills, and weird fan fiction. Although the business is always slow, that just means more adventures for the family that will keep you busy this break.

Wearing a pink hat 24 hours a day, nine-year-old Louise Belcher is the trouble child and frequently causes some sort of conflict or plot to the story. Even though she’s the youngest, she acts as the leader of the Belcher children.

Netflix options

The Walking Dead

Watching a show about a zombie apocalypse may sound somewhat ironic given the current COVID-19 outbreak the world is in at the moment, but for some this will be the perfect escape. With zombies showing up everywhere, the characters are constantly on the move. The drama between different people and the walking dead will have you at the edge of your seat, or bed, and wanting to watch an entire season in one day. The ongoing television show has nine crazy seasons on Netflix, and is worth every second spent watching it.

Gilmore Girls-

The ultimate mother and daughter team, Rory and Lorelai Gilmore, battle through love, drama, heartbreak, and other milestones as Rori grows up in two different worlds: the small town world of Stars Hollow, and the wealthy community of Hartford. This legendary series is seven emotionally-charged seasons, and you will be glued to your seat after the first episode. This show contains the real raw experiences others want in life, and you will fall in love with the characters as soon as you start watching.

Disney+ options

The Little Mermaid

This classic Disney princess film was released in 1989. The dancing mermaids, beautiful animated sunsets, and the beach and harbor scenes will have you dreaming of Summer time again. Although the fictional character of Ariel is now 46-years-old, she and her friends are timeless and the movie still tugs at your heart strings even today. The funny characters, such as Scuttle, and the great songs will distract you from this bubble of Corona chaos as you sing along.

Phineas and Ferb

This show was featured at some point in our childhood years and although it appeals to a younger audience, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz is just as hilarious almost a decade later. The Phineas and Ferb brother duo create amazing roller coasters, giant stadiums,  If you’re not interested in watching the entire series again, perhaps the last episode will bring tears to your eyes when you see the characters all grown up and ready for college. This show will fill you with nostalgia in every creative episode, and will turn the long hours of quarantine into mild minutes of viewing pleasure.

Disney+ includes National Geographic, Lucasfilm (Starwars), Marvel, and Pixar. With all of those additional options, watchers can learn about the world around them and treat themselves to an entire film series

These six films and shows are perfect when stuck in the bedroom for hours at a time. During the stress of online school, work, and being held in your room all day, hopefully we have helped cure some quarantine boredom for you, Mavs!
