On May 4 the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) hosted its annual Rainbow Graduation to celebrate the seniors in the club for their contributions.
“I am gonna miss the people in general,” Makayla Russell, 12, said. “They are all just really inclusive, and they make the club fun.”
Dave Hickerson, principal, and Adam Melichar, counselor, came to the event to speak in honor of the seniors and to talk about the club.
“GSA has taught me what GSA is all about,” Erin Ford, 12, said. “And I can be a part of the club in college and meet new people.”
The seniors who were recognized at this event stayed after to enjoy some cupcakes, cookies and other sweets.
“My goal when I joined GSA was to help create a safe place for everyone,” Jessica Tran, 12, said. “I think you shouldn’t judge people for who they are and who they love.”
