With the the holidays just around the corner, many students and teachers are celebrating early within their classrooms and hosting parties to celebrate the end of the semester. However, some classrooms are still having to dread finals during the last week of school and rushing to get all the grades in.
Not surprisingly, a majority of classes are split on whether they will be having early Christmas parties that include Secret Santa and White Elephant and various other activities or cramming to finish the semester.
Almost all of the classes at South wish that a final party was available but are forced to end their semester courses by finishing their final assignments, labs, written tests in the last week instead of being able to celebrate the holidays. Also, a majority of classes are being rushed to submit their final grades before a certain date into Skyward.
“Most of them we had last week. I stressed out a lot about them” Mckenzie Hensler, 11, said.
This has caused many of the classes, teachers and students included, to worry about the grades being entered and ending the school year with strictly focusing on getting everything required done.
“We had finals last week and this week were just chilling and hanging out. I cried like 8 times and slept maybe 7 hours last week and taught myself a whole semester of anatomy in like a night” Abby Easum, 11, said.
However, this has not deterred some teachers and students from hosting end of the year/ holiday parties in celebration and making the most out of holidays even with finals.
Overall, it is widely known by all that finals week is extremely stressful and many classes can’t afford to spare any time to host parties and enjoy the holidays. Nonetheless, some students and teachers have taken the opportunity to celebrate the holidays and will be enjoying their parties in the last week of school.
