Girls basketball wins first game of season

Girls basketball won Tuesday night, cruising to an easy win over Andover 69-43. Freshman Brianna Johnson led the team with 19 points, while junior Daley Handy had double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

“I think that the girls played really well,” head coach Jerrod Handy said. “They played with enthusiasm.”

Though the Eagles played well in their first game, Handy saw things that could be improved.

“Our defense needs to be improved,” Handy said. “We let them get too many easy baskets.”

The team’s next game will be against Hutchinson at 6 p.m Friday at home.
