A new sign was added to front of Maize High School in hopes to end confusion with identifying main entrance of Maize versus Maize Career Academy. The sign went up on Dec. 10.

A new sign was added in front of Maize on Dec. 10 to help better show the difference between the entrance to the high school and the entrance to the Maize Career Academy.

“People are having a conflict identifying the main entrance to either Maize Career Academy or Maize High,” director of maintenance and grounds Joe Naputi said. “Hopefully it [the new sign] will help out some with deliveries and people visiting our district.”

Students said they enjoy the sleek and modern look of the sign compared to the school’s old entrance.

“It looks like the MCA sign because it’s a little more modern than the rest of the school,” sophomore Sam Broberg said. “I think it looks a lot nicer.”

The sign will not be the only upgrade coming to make Maize look more modern.

“My guys are going to light up the front of Maize High, and then for most of the improvements, we’re going to wait until we start in on the bond,” Naputi said. “Part of that bond is to hopefully upgrade the front office area and the front atrium where the Maze High sign is, right up front, and just kind of spruce it up and bring it into this century.”
