Maize volleyball ended its season with a collective GPA of 3.816, which is the highest in the district. Sixteen out of 34 girls on the varsity, JV and freshman teams ended with a 4.0 or higher.
“I make it a point to check the D and F list,” varsity coach Betsy Manning said. “If I do find a player on that list, we have a one-on-one talk about what they can do to get their grades up and they will have a limited number of days to do so before a game. If they don’t, practice and playing time would have to be lowered.”
Maize teams averaged a GPA of 3.51 with each team’s average ranging from a 3.12 to 3.816.
“I couldn’t be more proud of my team,” Manning said.
